DJI Automotive, a subsidiary of Drone maker DJI, has started working with car companies, and mass-produced cars equipped with DJI's intelligent driving system will be released as soon as this year, China Securities Journal said Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
DJI announced Monday the launch of its new brand "DJI Automotive" and that the company will showcase the brand's technological innovations at the Shanghai Auto Show starting April 19. On April 16, DJI Automotive's official website was launched.
DJI Automotive offers three solutions by function and application scenario: DJI Smart Parking System; DJI Smart Driving D80/D80+; and DJI Smart Driving D130/D130+.
Among them, DJI Intelligent Parking System covers three application scenarios: assisted parking, memory parking, and autonomous parking.
The D80/D80+ solution can cover the 0 to 80 km/h speed range and is suitable for urban expressway scenarios.
DJI Automotive says the system supports adaptive cruise control (ACC), automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane-keeping (LKA), lane change assist (LCA), blind spot detection (BSW), and collision prevention (FCW).
It also supports Full-Speed Range Adaptive Cruise Control (FSR-ACC) functions including Follow Start-Stop and Close Encounter Response with Advanced Lane Keeping.
The D130/D130+ program includes all the features of the D80/D80+, with the addition of active overtaking assistance, navigational road change assistance, and lateral motion control features such as emergency parking.
By the end of 2020, DJI Automotive has over 500 core R&D staff, most of whom have experience in robotics and artificial intelligence.
In terms of intelligent manufacturing and quality system construction, DJI Automotive has also built up an engineering team of over 200 people, 90% of whom are engineers from well-known OEMs and Tier 1 manufacturers.
By the end of 2020, DJI Automotive has obtained more than 1,000 patents in smart driving and its related fields.
