Wang Naiyan, former China CTO of autonomous driving tech firm TuSimple, will join Xiaomi EV, according to local media.

Between May 1-19, Nio had 10,000 insurance registrations, Tesla 30,800, BYD 154,900, Xiaomi 4,000, Li Auto 18,600, and Xpeng 4,800 units.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun tried to peddle a concept for a unified in-vehicle eco-system in a meeting that included Nio' William Li and Onvo president Ai Tiecheng.

Xiaomi EV plans to increase its daily production time from 8 hours to 16 hours starting in June, with monthly production capacity expected to rise to nearly 20,000 units, according to local media.

Xiaomi EV said it is working on increasing its production capacity to ensure it meets its 100,000-unit delivery target this year.

For May 1-12, Nio was 5,600, Xpeng 2,800, Li Auto 10,800, Xiaomi 2,000, Tesla 16,900, and BYD 101,300 units.

Xiaomi EV is asking its upstream suppliers to boost the supply of components, increasing orders by about 80 percent, according to local media.

Xiaomi benchmarked its envisioned SUV to Tesla's Model Y during development, according to Bloomberg.

Li Auto had 5,300 insurance registrations last week and Xpeng 1,400.

Xiaomi started the first delivery of SU7 on April 3. It is targeting monthly deliveries of over 10,000 units in June.
