In January-August, China's passenger NEV wholesale sales are estimated at 5.08 million units, up 39 percent year-on-year, according to the CPCA.

In the first four weeks of August, China's NEV retail penetration was 39.67 percent, while it was 33.70 percent year-to-date.

China's NEV penetration at retail is expected to be around 37.8 percent in August, up from 36.1 percent in July.

In the first three weeks of August, China's NEV penetration at retail stood at 37.06 percent, while it was 33.3 percent year-to-date.

China's passenger NEV retail sales increased 38 percent year-on-year during August 1 to August 13, up 1 percent from the same period last month.

China's passenger NEV retail sales stood at 88,000 units in August 1-6, up 38 percent year-on-year and up 8 percent from the same period last month.

BEVs sold 421,000 units at retail in July, accounting for 65.7 percent of all NEV retail sales.

The latest data was revised upward from the CPCA's previous estimate of 620,000 units.

July is traditionally a slow season for the auto market, with hot weather restricting consumers from visiting stores, the CPCA said.

The penetration rate of NEVs at retail in July is expected to be around 35.8 percent, up from 35.1 percent in June.
