BYD is offering free vehicle insurance worth up to RMB 5,000 ($690) on a number of Ocean lineup models, ramping up promotions ahead of the Chinese New Year.

The Sealion 05 DM-i has a discounted starting price of RMB 99,800 ($13,670) as BYD looks to capitalize on the peak sales season ahead of the upcoming Chinese New Year holiday.

BYD has made inroads into 13 countries and regions in Africa so far.

BYD Korea said it has completed the selection of six dealer partners before launching its domestic operations in South Korea in January.

The first two BYD stores opened in Estonia and began pre-sales of four BYD NEV models.

BYD has set up an advanced technology research and development center that now has about 500 people, ramping up its investment in AI and large models.

BYD's Xi'an plant has four assembly lines in production at the same time, with output reaching 4,000 to 4,400 vehicles per day.

BYD is on track to sell 4.25 million units in the full year 2024, the company's chief scientist said, suggesting sales will be around 500,000 units this month.

BYD has launched the Han, Yuan Plus, Sealion, Song Plus DM-i and Qin Plus DM-i in Oman and plans to introduce the Sealion 07 in the local market next.

China's EV battery installations were 67.2 GWh in November, up 49.7 percent year-on-year and up 13.5 percent from October.
