Sales of the BYD Han began in July last year, with cumulative sales to date standing at 110,344 units.

BYD sold 30,382 pure electric vehicles in August, up 223 percent from 9,414 units a year earlier. It sold 30,126 units of plug-in hybrids in August, up 556 percent from a year earlier.

BYD has set a target of 600,000 new energy vehicle deliveries this year and a target of 1.5 million new energy vehicle sales next year, the report said.

BYD shares traded in Shenzhen fell 1.69 percent to RMB 283.27 by the end of morning trading.

BYD officially unveiled its 5G-enabled DiLink 4.0 system - the company's in-car OS - at the Chengdu Auto Show on Sunday, and Han EV users can pay to upgrade.

Half a month ago, BYD started pre-sales of Dolphin - the first model of its e platform 3.0. Now, the model is officially available at prices that are RMB 3,000 ($460) lower than the pre-sale prices.

BYD avoided suffering the impact and seize the growth opportunity during the period when many car companies had to reduce or stop production, the report said.

A teaser image shows BYD will unveil the new DiLink and the "mysterious" cabin of the Han EV at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 29.

In addition to the rapid growth in new energy vehicle production, BYD is also accelerating its expansion in the power battery sector.

BYD was down more than 3 percent at the beginning of Monday's trading session, but now turns up more than 1 percent.
