  • Zhejiang has the highest number of Nio users among all provinces in China, accounting for about one-sixth of its total user base.
  • Zhejiang houses 489 Nio battery swap stations, the most of any Chinese province.

Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has surpassed 200,000 users in eastern China's Zhejiang province, an achievement that highlights the company's strong growth momentum in the strategic core region of the Yangtze River Delta.

Fan Hongyin, general manager of Nio's Hangzhou regional company responsible for auto sales, revealed the figure on Tuesday. He said on the social media platform Weibo that the company reached its first 100,000 users in Zhejiang in July 2024, and it took less than two years to achieve the second 100,000-user milestone.

Nio founder, chairman and CEO William Li later reposted the message. He said that doubling the number of users in Zhejiang in less than two years is a recognition of the company's products, technologies, and services.

Zhejiang province is one of China's most economically developed regions, providing fertile ground for premium EVs.

In 2025, Zhejiang's gross domestic product (GDP) reached 9.45 trillion yuan ($1.4 trillion), according to official figures. This represented a 5.5% increase from the previous year, outpacing the national growth rate of 5.0%.

In this wealthy eastern province, Nio firmly holds the top spot in the pure electric vehicle market for cars priced above 300,000 yuan. For every three pure electric vehicles sold above 300,000 yuan in Zhejiang, one is a Nio, Fan said.

Zhejiang is also the province with the highest number of Nio users, accounting for about one-sixth of the company's total user base. As of the end of May, Nio Inc's cumulative new car deliveries in China approached 1.15 million units.

This high market penetration is also largely due to Nio's massive local infrastructure network.

As of the end of May, the company had deployed 489 battery swap stations in Zhejiang, 113 of which are located along highways. This makes Zhejiang the province with the highest number of Nio battery swap stations.

The dense power replenishment network has significantly improved travel convenience for users. On Zhejiang's highways, a battery swap station can be found every 100 kilometers on average.

The cumulative number of battery swaps by Zhejiang users has exceeded 18.5 million, ranking first among all provincial-level administrative regions in the country. As early as March 2025, Nio achieved full coverage of its charging and swapping network across all county-level administrative regions in the province.

In addition to the main Nio brand, sub-brands Onvo and Firefly also made significant contributions to this milestone.

The Onvo brand recently celebrated its second anniversary, having amassed nearly 20,000 users in Zhejiang with an average transaction price exceeding 240,000 yuan.

Meanwhile, the Firefly brand, which focuses on the premium compact car market, has led its segment in Zhejiang for 12 consecutive months since deliveries began in April 2025, Fan said.

An active user community is also a key factor in Nio's popularity in Zhejiang. The company has over 30 car clubs and more than 320 interest groups in the region.

In 2026 alone, Nio has hosted over 3,400 community events in Zhejiang, with an average of 23 events taking place every day, according to Fan.

To date, the cumulative driving mileage of Nio users in Zhejiang has surpassed 9.3 billion kilometers, also ranking first among China's provincial-level regions.

The company currently operates 28 flagship Nio Houses, 17 experience centers, and 44 Nio Spaces in Zhejiang.

William Li said Nio will not exit overseas markets but will slow its pace and evaluate return on investment more cautiously.
