GWM (HKEX: 2333) officially launched its latest flagship model, the Wey V9X, on Monday, calling it an AI-powered luxury six-seater flagship SUV.
The new car comes in three variants with a starting price of 349,800 yuan ($51,370), all of which are plug-in hybrid versions equipped with GWM's Hi4 powertrain.
The model is the first mass-produced vehicle based on GWM's new Global One S platform, which enables flexible deployment of vehicle functions through technical pathways such as hardware standardization and AI-native architecture.
The Wey V9X will also introduce hybrid electric and pure electric versions later this year to enrich its product matrix.
The model offers both standard-wheelbase and long-wheelbase specifications to meet the spatial needs of different consumers.
The standard-wheelbase version has a body length of 5,205 mm and a wheelbase of 3,050 mm, which are 84 mm and 100 mm shorter than the long-wheelbase version, respectively, while maintaining the same width of 2,025 mm and height of 1,825 mm.
Its interior features a large dual-screen setup and zero-gravity seats, with a strong focus on enhancing the luxury and comfort experience in the rear rows.
The powertrain and chassis system are among the core competitive advantages of the new car. The Wey V9X is equipped with a 2.0T engine and an 800-volt high-voltage electrical architecture, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of under 5 seconds.
The model is powered by ternary lithium battery packs with capacities of up to 80 kWh, providing CLTC pure electric ranges of up to 470 kilometers. When fully fueled and charged, its combined range reaches up to 1,700 kilometers.
The entire lineup comes standard with a closed dual-chamber air suspension and a large-angle rear-wheel steering system, improving handling performance.
The level of intelligence is a key focus of competition in the current Chinese auto market. The Wey V9X leverages AI agent technology to significantly enhance the risk identification capabilities of its assisted driving system, GWM said.
Its pioneering chain-of-thought card function visualizes the reasoning process, aiming to increase driver trust and optimize the interactive experience.
Facing the fiercely competitive flagship SUV market, the Wey V9X seeks to grab market share by relying on its high cost-performance ratio and full-stack in-house developed technologies.
