Fang Cheng Bao, the personalized sub-brand of BYD (HKEX: 1211), has officially launched the flash charging editions of the Bao 8 and Bao 5, bringing a faster energy replenishment experience to the brand's hardcore off-road product line.
The two new off-road SUV (sport utility vehicle) models were officially brought to market on Wednesday, and consumers who place orders within a limited time can also enjoy price discounts.
The Bao 5 flash charging edition has a starting price of 305,800 yuan ($45,020), while the larger Bao 8 flash charging edition starts at 419,800 yuan.
The Fang Cheng Bao brand currently has a total of four models on sale, among which the two models of the family-oriented Tai series have already introduced flash charging editions in the past two months.
With the official launch of the two new Bao series models today, this marks that all products under the Fang Cheng Bao brand have entered the flash charging era.
Both new cars are equipped with BYD's second-generation Blade Battery and the ultra-fast flash charging platform, which is expected to significantly alleviate the range anxiety of off-road users.
The Bao 8 flash charging edition can achieve a maximum combined range of 1,380 kilometers, while the Bao 5 flash charging edition can also reach a combined range of 1,310 kilometers.
The two hybrid SUVs are the first to be equipped with BYD's newly released high-end suspension system, DiSus-P Ultra, marking a further breakthrough in its off-road technology.
This innovative technology enables the vehicle to support a three-minute suspended tire change and continue driving smoothly on three wheels with the help of a stable stopping system in the event of a sudden tire blowout.
This advanced suspension system also supports a 200-millimeter body height adjustment stroke, and features an industry-leading 9-ton lifting capacity as well as a four-wheel lifting extrication function.

Fang Cheng Bao also simultaneously launched a smart connected car radio priced at 3,899 yuan, to support functions such as quick voice calling via the infotainment system and one-touch navigation.
Fang Cheng Bao posted stellar sales performance last month, reaching 29,138 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 190.25% and a 12.39% growth compared to March, according to data released by BYD earlier this month.
BYD Group's wholesale volume of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in April was 321,123 units, an increase of 6.96% from March. However, this marked the eighth consecutive month of year-on-year sales decline, with a drop of 15.51%.
BYD is banking on boosting sales by upgrading its vehicles to the second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology.
