BYD (HKEX: 1211) will launch the third-generation Yuan Plus on May 21, a compact pure electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) that debuted at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show last month.
Chinese automotive media outlet Yiche reported the plan on Tuesday. BYD has yet to announce the schedule through its official channels.
The vehicle measures 4,665 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,770 mm. This offers increased dimensions and interior space compared to the current model.
The new model — which has already entered dozens of overseas markets under the Atto 3 nameplate — will serve as one of the core carriers for BYD's technological upgrades. It features the highly anticipated second-generation Blade Battery and the company's latest flash charging technology.
These technologies enable the vehicle to charge from 10% to 70% in about five minutes, addressing range and charging time anxiety for EV users.
The new car offers two battery capacity options of 57.545 kWh and 68.547 kWh, corresponding to China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) pure electric ranges of 540 kilometers and 630 kilometers, respectively.
The third-generation Yuan Plus adopts a rear-mounted single-motor layout, available in two maximum power versions of 200 kW (268 hp) and 240 kW.
The second-generation Yuan Plus Smart Driving Edition currently sold in the Chinese market starts at 115,800 yuan ($17,040), and pricing for the third-generation model is expected to remain competitive.
Notably, the new vehicle is equipped with a roof-mounted LiDAR and will feature BYD's in-house developed "God's Eye" smart driving assistance system.
Additionally, to attract a younger demographic, BYD announced on April 24, the opening day of the Beijing Auto Show, that it will launch a special edition model co-branded with the well-known intellectual property "My Little Pony."

The Yuan Plus is a pivotal product in BYD's globalization strategy and is already sold in dozens of markets worldwide.
With the launch of the third-generation Yuan Plus, BYD is poised to further consolidate its position as the world's largest new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer and accelerate its pace of expansion in overseas markets.
