BYD (HKG: 1211) has signed a massive procurement agreement with Car Inc, marking a significant step for the new energy vehicle (NEV) maker in the mobility services sector.

The two companies officially signed the 100,000-unit procurement framework on Saturday in Shenzhen, while agreeing to install BYD flash charging facilities at eligible rental stores across China.

The partnership aims to build a widespread, highly efficient, and convenient charging service network, a move that will enhance user experience and consolidate BYD's position in rental fleets.

As China's largest direct-operated car rental platform and a leading mobility service provider, Car Inc launched its fleet electrification strategy in 2025 to align with the market trend of green mobility.

In earlier market pilots, Car Inc deployed 3,000 BYD Qin Plus DM-i hybrid sedans in April 2025, primarily to meet the growing demand for short-term rentals, according to a statement today.

The two parties officially forged a strategic partnership in May 2025, with Car Inc purchasing nearly 30,000 BYD vehicles in total last year.

The new 100,000-unit procurement framework will further drive the sustainable development of China's car rental industry, BYD said.

The large-scale application of flash charging technology is another core pillar of this deepened collaboration, as BYD pushes forward with the implementation of its "Flash Charging China" strategy.

The company plans to complete the construction of 20,000 flash charging stations in China by the end of this year, a massive network that will alleviate range and charging anxiety for rental users.

On March 5 this year, BYD officially unveiled its second-generation Blade Battery and the world's highest-power mass-produced flash charger, which features a maximum single-gun charging power of 1,500 kW.

Combined with the latest battery technology, vehicles equipped with this system can charge from 10% to 97% in just nine minutes, and the total charging time is only 12 minutes even in extreme cold environments of minus 30 degrees Celsius.

Such charging efficiency is expected to transform the car rental experience for Chinese consumers, allowing future users to quickly recharge their vehicles with only a brief stop during their trips.

In addition, BYD provides an after-sales policy for core components of commercial vehicles, offering an ultra-long warranty of six years or 600,000 kilometers for the battery, motor, and electronic control systems.

This warranty policy is expected to reduce the daily operating costs and potential risks for car rental companies.

The Linghui e9 starts at 150,800 yuan ($22,170) and primarily targets the commercial mobility market, such as ride-hailing.
