Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) previewed the capabilities of its robotaxi ahead of tomorrow's 2025 AI Day, where the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker will unveil its latest advancements in this field.

Xpeng's robotaxi is no longer just a means of transportation, but a companion that understands communication, the company wrote on Weibo today.

It shared a video on Weibo demonstrating how a robotaxi based on the Xpeng X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) can perform multiple tasks and interact with passengers and pedestrians.

Xpeng installed displays on the backs of both sun visors in the robotaxi, serving as the core interface for vehicle-human interaction.

The dual displays can show information including greetings, task status, and charging status.

Xpeng is expected to reveal more details about its robotaxi at the 2025 AI Day event starting at 3 pm Beijing time on November 5.

The company began exploring the robotaxi business as early as the second half of 2022. Its G9 SUV (sport utility vehicle) received approval for public road testing as a robotaxi in Guangzhou, where the company is headquartered, on October 31, 2022.

However, the company had released very little information in this area after that.

At its 2024 AI Day event last November, Xpeng unveiled the Canghai Platform, described as an AI automotive neural system designed for Level 4 autonomous driving scenarios.

Xpeng said it would utilize its in-house developed Turing smart driving chip and Canghai Platform in its Ultra series models to create a new form of robotaxi.

These robotaxis will feature up to 3,000 TOPS of computing power and possess Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities, Xpeng said at the time.

Aridge has produced the first flying body of its Land Aircraft Carrier modular flying car at its Guangzhou factory, marking the completion of its mass production line.
