Xpeng's (NYSE: XPEV) flying car unit Aridge, formerly known as Xpeng Aeroht, has produced the first flying body of its modular Land Aircraft Carrier flying car at its Guangzhou factory.

The company announced this milestone today, saying that the trial production and successful rollout of the first flying unit signifies the world's first flying car mass production line has been fully completed.

The facility is the world's first factory utilizing a modern assembly line for flying car batch production. The trial-produced aircraft will undergo test flights to further validate product performance and manufacturing processes, laying the groundwork for mass production and delivery of the Land Aircraft Carrier next year, the company said.

The facility has an initial annual capacity of 5,000 units, expanding to 10,000 units at full production. At maximum output, the assembly line can produce one aircraft every 30 minutes, Aridge said.

Aridge originated in 2013 and was formally established in 2020 as the technology division majority-owned by Guangzhou-based Xpeng and its chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng.

The company operated under the name Xpeng Aeroht for several years before rebranding as Aridge last month.

At its Tech Day event on October 24, 2023, Xpeng outlined that the development path for its flying car division would encompass both Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) flying cars and modular flying cars.

The complete Land Aircraft Carrier modular flying car system comprises a flying vehicle and a mother vehicle capable of recharging it.

Xpeng Aeroht will achieve mass production and delivery of this modular flying car by 2026, with a price cap of RMB 2 million ($281,040), its founder and president Zhao Deli announced at a September 3, 2024 press event.

Xpeng Aeroht will next conduct manned flight tests across multiple locations in the UAE.
