Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) unveiled a new hybrid platform it calls SEA-S and plans to start pre-sales of the first model based on the platform, the full-size luxury SUV (sport utility vehicle) Zeekr 9X, at the end of next month.
The electric vehicle (EV) maker officially unveiled SEA-S at a technology event today, calling it the industry's first luxury hybrid-exclusive platform built on a pure electric architecture and the world's first full-stack 900-volt high-voltage hybrid platform.
The Zeekr Super Hybrid System based on the SEA-S platform is equipped with tri-silicon carbide-powered motors and CATL Freevoy hybrid battery.
This allows passengers to enjoy a quiet city ride and confidently transition to high-performance or long-distance driving without worrying about range, Zeekr said.
The Zeekr 9X is the first model built on the SEA-S platform. The three silicon carbide motors have a peak output power of 1,030 kW and a maximum horsepower of 1,400, which can provide supercar-level acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds.
It is equipped with a 2.0T engine with a peak power of 205 kW and a thermal efficiency of over 46 percent.
The SUV is equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 70 kWh, and the CLTC pure electric range is up to 380 kilometers, which Zeekr said is the longest among hybrid SUVs in the world.
When fully fueled and fully charged, the model has a combined range of over 1,000 kilometers.
The Zeekr 9X supports a charging rate of up to 6C, which can be charged from 20 percent to 80 percent in about 9 minutes, and from 10 percent to 80 percent in 10.3 minutes.
The Zeekr 9X will be equipped with Zeekr's latest G-Pilot H9 autonomous driving system for the first time, which can achieve advanced L3 driving capabilities.
The system is powered by dual Nvidia Thor chips with 1,400 TOPS of computing power.
It also has five LiDARs that can identify objects larger than 0.75 meters by 0.75 meters at up to 300 meters away.
The Zeekr 9X will go on pre-sales at the Chengdu auto show in late August, Zeekr said today, without mentioning pricing information.
Last month, a Zeekr spokesperson told CnEVPost that the Zeekr 9X would be officially launched in the third quarter, with an estimated price starting at about RMB 600,000 yuan ($83,560).
Zeekr debuted the Zeekr 9X at the first day of the Shanghai auto show on April 23, saying that the model's powertrain combines the advantages of BEV and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), bringing disruptive innovation in performance, efficiency and overall driving experience.
