Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) has unveiled its first hybrid SUV (sport utility vehicle), the Zeekr 9X, which will blur the lines between a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and a battery electric vehicle (BEV) with its long range.
The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker today gave the Zeekr 9X its world debut on the first day of the Shanghai auto show, saying the model's official launch will be in the third quarter.
The Zeekr 9X's powertrain combines the strengths of BEVs and PHEVs to deliver disruptive innovations in performance, efficiency and overall driving experience, the company said.
The SUV is powered by CATL's (SHE: 300750) Freevoy Battery and has a pure electric range of more than 380 kilometers, the longest range of any hybrid SUV in the world, Zeekr said.
CATL introduced the Freevoy Battery for hybrids in October 2024, capable of delivering more than 400 kilometers of range and supporting 4C fast charging, thus allowing hybrids to deliver a BEV-like experience.
On March 25, Lynk & Co, majority-owned by the Zeekr Group, began pre-sales of the Lynk & Co 900 SUV, which also features the Freevoy Battery and has a battery range of up to 280 kilometers.
The Zeekr 9X can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just three seconds, redefining high-performance electric driving, Zeekr said.
Its 2.0T hybrid engine leads the class with an output of 205 kW, while its dual-chamber air suspension and active stabilizer bars ensure comfort and agility, it said.
The Zeekr 9X is set for a global launch in the third quarter of 2025, when V4 ultra-fast chargers with peak charging power of up to 1.3 MW will be in operation, Zeekr said.
The SUV will debut with Zeekr's latest G-Pilot H9 autonomous driving system, which features dual Nvidia Thor chips with 1,400 TOPS of computing power.
It also has five LiDAR sensors for advanced L3 driving capabilities, according to Zeekr.
Additionally, Zeekr mentioned that the Lynk & Co 900 will officially go on sale on April 28, and has already garnered over 40,000 pre-orders.
