This year is likely to be an important one for joint venture automakers in China to launch comeback efforts in the EV market, after having been largely silent over the past few years.

On April 27, Dongfeng Nissan, the Chinese joint venture of Japanese auto giant Nissan Motor, launched the N7 all-electric sedan at unexpectedly low prices, in one of the major efforts by JVs in China over the past few years.

The N7 mid-to-large-size sedan's starting price range of RMB 119,900 ($16,600) to RMB 149,900 is comparable to the RMB 119,800 to RMB 155,800 price range of 's (NYSE: XPEV) hot-selling Mona M03.

Several joint-venture automakers have shown off their latest EV models at the 2025 Shanghai auto show late last month and early this month, hinting that they would step up their efforts in China's EV market.
