Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) is reportedly still working on a team shake-up to facilitate the integration of the sales teams for the main Nio brand and the Onvo sub-brand as part of a cost-saving effort.

The electric vehicle (EV) maker recently made a number of personnel changes aimed at blending the Nio brand with the Onvo brand's sales channels to boost organizational efficiency, according to a report in local media outlet Sina Tech today.

Specifically, Gu Yue, former general manager of Nio's Tianjin regional company, and Gong Dequan, former general manager of Nio's Dalian regional company, both left for personal reasons, according to the report.

Following these two departures, Cheng Long, general manager of Onvo Tianjin regional company, is also general manager of Nio Tianjin regional Company, reporting to Nio co-founder and president Qin Lihong and Onvo president Shen Fei.

Li Jia, general manager of Onvo Dalian, is now also general manager of Nio Dalian, reporting to both Qin and Shen.

In addition, Fan Hongyin, general manager of Nio Hangzhou, has been appointed to also serve as general manager of Onvo Hangzhou, reporting to both Qin and Shen.

Yan Xiamin, general manager of Nio Wenzhou, was appointed to also serve as general manager of Onvo Wenzhou, reporting to both Qin and Shen.

On April 2, Alan Ai announced his resignation as Onvo president, which was taken over by Shen, who was previously responsible for Nio Power.

Nio Inc's personnel restructuring accelerated significantly after Shen became president of Onvo, the Sina Tech report said.

At the time, Onvo's R&D, supply chain, and quality departments began to report to Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li, and the marketing system began to report to Qin to improve operational efficiency, the report noted.

Nio is aiming for single-quarter profitability in the fourth quarter of this year, a goal Li has emphasized several times this year.

Starting in the second quarter, Nio's financial statements should see improvements in cost and expense control, Li said on a March 21 earnings call.

With increased sales, improved gross margins, and expense control, the company was confident that it would meet the goal of achieving that profitability in the fourth quarter of this year, Li said at the time.
