- The new variant of the P7+ comes with a battery pack with 5C charging multiplier, which can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 12 minutes.
- All three updated versions of the Xpeng launched earlier this year came standard with the 5C pack.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) today launched a faster-charging variant of its P7+ mid-to-large-size electric sedan on the first day of the 2025 Shanghai auto show, after starting to use the new battery pack in new models earlier this year.
The new P7+ variant is powered by a battery pack with a charging multiplier of 5C and has a starting price of RMB 208,800 ($28,570).
C refers to the charging multiplier of the battery and 5C means that the battery can theoretically be fully charged in one-fifth of an hour.
The new P7+ variant can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in 12 minutes, said He Xiaopeng, chairman and CEO of Xpeng, at a media briefing today.
The model can get a range of 420 kilometers on a 10-minute charge, he said.
Xpeng launched the P7+ on November 7, 2024, when it was offered in three variants with starting prices of RMB 186,800, RMB 198,800 and RMB 218,800 respectively.
With the launch of the new P7+ variant today, the variant previously priced at RMB 218,800 has been replaced and the available versions of the sedan remain at three.
The P7+ previously came standard with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack that supports 3C charging and can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in 20 minutes.
Xpeng launched updated versions of the G6 and G9 SUVs (sport utility vehicles) last month and the X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) last week.
All three updated models come standard with a battery pack that supports 5C charging with up to 530 kW of power, and can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in as little as 12 minutes.
