China's NEV penetration at retail stood at 50.84 percent in July, the first time in history it has exceeded 50 percent, according to preliminary CPCA data.
China's retail sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) continued to rebound in July, with penetration exceeding 50 percent for the first time.
In July, retail sales of passenger NEVs in China totaled 879,000 units, up 37 percent year-on-year and up 3 percent from the previous month, according to preliminary data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
The figure is higher than the 860,000-unit estimate released by the CPCA on July 26. Final figures are expected to be released later this month.
So far this year, China's cumulative retail sales of passenger NEVs totaled 4.991 million units, up 34 percent year-on-year.
Wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs from July 1-31 were 955,000 units, up 30 percent from a year earlier but down 3 percent from the previous month, according to the CPCA.
So far this year, cumulative wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs stood at 5.575 million units, up 30 percent from the same period last year.
In July, China's retail sales of all passenger vehicles were 1.729 million units, 2 percent lower than the same period last year and 2 percent lower than the same period last month.
So far this year, cumulative retail sales of all passenger vehicles in China amounted to 11.568 million units, up 2 percent year-on-year.
This means that China's NEV penetration at retail was 50.84 percent in July and 43.14 percent so far this year.
Barring any major adjustments to the final CPCA figures, this means that China's NEV penetration at retail exceeded 50 percent for the first time in history in July, up from 48.4 percent in June.
In the first week of July -- July 1-7 -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 39,189, up 6 percent year-on-year and up 9 percent from the previous month.
In the second week of July -- July 8-14 -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 43,330, down 1 percent year-on-year but up 4 percent from the previous month.
In the third week of July -- July 15-21 -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 50,941, 1 percent lower year-on-year and 14 percent lower than the previous month.
In the fourth week of July -- July 22-28 -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 65,367, 10 percent lower year-on-year and 25 percent lower than the previous month.
In the fifth week of July -- July 29-31 -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 112,423, down 1 percent year-on-year but up 17 percent from the previous month.
For July 1-31, wholesale sales of all passenger cars in China were 1.956 million units, 5 percent lower year-on-year and 10 percent lower than the same period last month.
During July 1-7, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 27,877, down 26 percent year-on-year and 21 percent lower than the previous month.
During July 8-14, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 36,276, down 22 percent year-on-year and down 10 percent from the previous month.
During July 15-21, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 56,270, up 2 percent year-on-year but 18 percent lower than the previous month.
During July 22-28, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 73,442, down 21 percent year-on-year and 41 percent lower than the previous month.
During July 29-31, average daily wholesale sales of Chinese passenger cars were 199,605, up 37 percent year-on-year and up 40 percent from the previous month.
Cumulative wholesale sales of Chinese passenger cars so far this year were 13.708 million units, up 4 percent year-on-year.
