Zeekr, the electric vehicle (EV) subsidiary of Geely Holding Group, will launch a new variant of the Zeekr 009 MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) to further tap the premium EV market.
Zeekr will launch the four-seat variant of the Zeekr 009 on April 19, with the launch event set to begin at 8 pm Beijing Time, the company announced today.
Notably, Zeekr has emphasized that this new variant -- called the Zeekr 009 Grand -- is its sixth model, showcasing a higher level of importance compared to a usual new variant.
Zeekr currently has four models on sale -- Zeekr 001, Zeekr 007, Zeekr X, and Zeekr 009, with Zeekr 001 including the Zeekr 001 FR supercar variant. The Zeekr 009 currently on sale is a six-seater.
On March 22, Zeekr said its fifth model was officially named Zeekr Mix and is designed to create a new family mobility lifestyle.
The launch date of the Zeekr Mix, which entered a regulatory filing catalog with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) last month, is undetermined.
The Zeekr 009 was initially launched on November 1, 2022, and is Zeekr's second model after the Zeekr 001, with deliveries beginning in February 2023.
On January 15, Zeekr rolled out the refreshed Zeekr 009, which continues to be offered in two trims, with a starting price of RMB 500,000 ($69,150), a small increase of RMB 1,000 from its predecessor.
In the upcoming Zeekr 009 Grand model, Zeekr has prepared two seats worth RMB 500,000 each, it said today.
Zeekr didn't provide more details, but the images it shared show that the rear of the new Zeekr 009 variant is a full separate space with a large screen.
Zeekr delivered 13,012 vehicles in March, with the Zeekr 001 contributing 7,503 and the Zeekr 009 488, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
