That 7 millionth vehicle is an updated version of the N7 SUV that BYD's premium brand Denza will officially launch on April 1, according to a Weibo post it made today.

BYD entered the automotive industry in 2003, it sold its first NEV in 2008, and it currently sells dozens of models.

On May 19, 2021, BYD saw its one millionth NEV -- a Han EV -- roll off the production line, making it the first Chinese carmaker to reach that milestone in the NEV segment.

On August 9, 2023, BYD saw its 5 millionth NEV roll off the line, also a Denza N7.

On November 24, 2023, BYD saw its 6 millionth NEV roll off the production line, which was the Bao 5, the first model of its personalized brand, Fang Cheng Bao.

In the automotive sector, BYD has its main brand BYD Auto, as well as premium sub-brands including Denza, Fang Cheng Bao and Yangwang.

Denza was established as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler in February 2011, when they each held a 50 percent stake in the company. BYD's stake in Denza increased to 90 percent in 2022.

The first model of the restructured Denza brand was the D9 MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle), which was initially launched in August 2022. On March 6, Denza launched the 2024 D9.

On July 3, 2023, Denza launched the Denza N7, a (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model Y competitor, currently starting at RMB 301,800 ($41,920).

On August 5, 2023, Denza launched the Denza N8 SUV with a starting price of RMB 319,800 ($419,800).

Earlier this month, Denza announced that it will officially launch the updated N7 on April 1. Show cars of the model became available on March 23 at Denza stores in 70 cities in China.
