After launching an upgraded version of the Zeekr X urban SUV five days ago, Zeekr, the premium electric vehicle (EV) subsidiary of Geely Holding Group, has rolled out an improved version of the Zeekr 009 MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle).
Zeekr continues to offer the Zeekr 009 in two trims, but the starting price has been raised slightly by RMB 1,000 ($140) to RMB 500,000 from previously.
The Zeekr 009 was initially launched on November 1, 2022, and is Zeekr's second model after the Zeekr 001, with deliveries beginning in February 2023.
The Zeekr 009 was previously offered in WE and ME versions with a starting price of RMB 499,000 and RMB 588,000 respectively.
The updated Zeekr 009 is still available in WE and ME versions, with starting prices of RMB 500,000 and RMB 588,000, respectively.
There are no changes to the core specifications of the Zeekr 009, and both trims are powered by Li-ion ternary batteries with pack capacities of 116 kWh and 140 kWh and CLTC ranges of 702 km and 822 km respectively.
The 140-kWh pack is the Qilin Battery released in June 2022 by CATL. That 116-kWh battery pack is a regular ternary battery.
Notably, Zeekr has made some of the previous setups that required a paid option, including digital rearview mirrors, power adjustable steering wheel, front passenger seat comfort package, and double-pane acoustic glass for the third row, standard.
This means that customers can get better features at a slightly higher starting price.
Zeekr rolled out the revamped version of the Zeekr X on January 10, just nine months after the model went on sale.
The 2024 Zeekr X eliminates the previous, lower-priced entry version and retains the other two versions, but at a lower price.
Zeekr delivered a record 13,476 vehicles in December, bringing full-year 2023 deliveries to 118,685 vehicles.
The Zeekr 009 delivered 2,310 units in December, contributing 17 percent of Zeekr's monthly deliveries. The MPV delivered 19,210 units in 2023, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Zeekr is aiming to deliver 230,000 vehicles in 2024, doubling from 2023, a company spokesperson told CnEVPost earlier this month.
