Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) saw its 600,000th vehicle delivery since its inception, marking a milestone in its history.

"Today, Li Auto completed the delivery of its 600,000th vehicle at the Beijing Shunyi Delivery Center," the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) maker announced on Weibo. The vehicle is Li Auto's flagship model, the Li L9.

This means that as of today, Li Auto has delivered 16,989 vehicles this month, considering its cumulative deliveries of 583,011 vehicles till the end of November.

Founded on July 1, 2015 and headquartered in Beijing, Li Auto is currently the most well-known EREV maker in China.

The company unveiled its first production vehicle, the Li One, in October 2018, and began deliveries of the EREV model in December 2019. In the second half of 2022, the Li One was discontinued, and Li Auto focused its efforts on the L-series of models.

Li Auto currently sells the Li L7, Li L8, and Li L9, all of which are EREVs. It began pre-sales of its first battery electric vehicle (BEV) model, the Li Mega MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle), on the first day of the Guangzhou auto show on November 17, with an official launch date yet to be determined.

EREVs are essentially plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), with relatively large battery packs that provide the driving experience of a BEV while helping to alleviate range anxiety due to the presence of a conventional fuel tank.

EREVs have gained a lot of traction over the past two years in China's fast-growing new energy vehicle (NEV) market, helping Li Auto see strong sales growth.

In November, Li Auto delivered 41,030 vehicles, marking the second consecutive month it has surpassed the 40,000-unit mark. The company is aiming to challenge the target of 50,000 monthly deliveries in December.

In the January-November period, Li Auto delivered 325,677 vehicles, a 190.75 percent year-on-year increase, ahead of its target of delivering 300,000 vehicles for the year.

Li Auto provided its supply chain with a 2024 sales forecast of more than 800,000 units, local media outlet 36kr said in a November 7 report.

In the fourth quarter of each year, car companies usually send their supply chain their sales plans for the following year so that suppliers can make material, capacity, personnel, and financial preparations.

An unspoken rule is that car companies usually give a high forecast, while the supply chain partners will make their own judgments based on the competitiveness of the models and the business performance of the car companies, 36kr's report noted.

In addition to the Li L7, Li L8, Li L9, and Li Mega, Li Auto will have four all-new models coming to market in 2024, including the Li L6 EREV and a trio of BEVs, the report said.
