China sold a record 1,026,000 NEVs in November, including 929,000 sold locally and 97,000 exported.
China's new energy vehicle (NEV) sales reached a new record in November and exceeded 1 million units for the first time in history.
The country sold 1,026,000 NEVs in November, up about 30 percent from 786,000 a year earlier and up 7.32 percent from October, according to data released today by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
The CAAM's NEV sales are the automaker's wholesale sales, including those in China and those exported to overseas markets. NEVs include battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), and fuel-cell vehicles.
BEV sales in November were a record 702,000 units, up 13.5 percent year-on-year and up 8.67 percent from October.
PHEV sales in November were a record 323,000 units, up 89.5 percent year-on-year and up 4.19 percent from October.
Fuel cell vehicle sales in November were up 76.3 percent to 1,000 units.
China's all vehicle sales in November were 2,970,000 units, up 27.4 percent year-on-year and up 4.1 percent from October.
This means that NEV penetration in November was 34.5 percent, up from 33.5 percent in October.
In January-November, China's NEV sales were 8,304,000 units, up 36.7 percent year-on-year, accounting for 30.8 percent of the 26,889,000 units of all vehicles sold.
BEV sales were up 23.6 percent year-on-year to 5,860,000 units in the January-November period. A total of 2,439,000 units of PHEVs were sold, up 83.5 percent year-on-year.
Excluding exports, China's NEV sales in November were a record 929,000 units, up 33.9 percent year-on-year and up 11.7 percent from October.
In the January-November period, China's NEV sales, excluding exports, were 7,212,000 units, up 31.7 percent year-on-year.
In November, 482,000 vehicles were exported from China, up 46.3 percent year-on-year while down 1.1 percent from October.
Among them, exports of NEVs amounted to 97,000 units, up 1.6 percent year-on-year while down 21.8 percent from October.
China exported 4.412 million vehicles in the January-November period, up 58.4 percent year-on-year. A total of 1.091 million NEVs were exported during the period, up 83.5 percent year-on-year.
China's production of NEVs in November was 1,074,000 units, an increase of 39.2 percent year-on-year.
China's output of all vehicles in November was 3,093,000 units, up 29.4 percent year-on-year and up 7 percent from October.
