Geely's electric outdoor lifestyle vehicle brand Radar Auto has launched the RD6 in Laos, making the electric pickup truck available in Southeast Asia for the first time.
Radar rolled out the RD6 at a launch event at its first flagship store in Vientiane, Laos, on November 21, marking the brand's official entry into the international arena, competing with pickup truck brands from other countries, according to its press release yesterday.
Radar's press release did not mention the RD6's price in Laos. The model's starting price range in China is from RMB 145,800 ($20,410) to RMB 268,800.
Southeast Asian countries has put forward development goals of structural transformation of the automotive industry, and new energy vehicles (NEVs) have a bright future, Radar said.
The Laos government has formulated a series of strategies to achieve the goal of electric vehicles contributing more than 30 percent of vehicle sales by 2030, the release said.
Meanwhile, Southeast Asian consumers have a greater demand for pickup trucks than sedans and SUVs, Radar said.
