Nio's yet-to-be-unveiled one or two new models could be delivered earlier than the EC7 and the new ES8, Qin Lihong said.
Nio (NYSE: NIO) has up to two more new yet-to-be-unveiled models that could begin deliveries by the end of May, the company's co-founder and president, Qin Lihong, hinted.
Nio held a small media briefing in Beijing today, where Qin presented how Nio's service system was performing around the Chinese New Year holiday and revealed the product plan in a subsequent Q&A session.
He said that one or two of the company's yet-to-be-unveiled new models may be delivered earlier than the EC7 and the new ES8.
The EC7 coupe SUV and the new ES8 were launched at Nio Day 2022 on December 24, 2022, and deliveries will begin in May and June 2023, respectively.
Qin's remarks mean that Nio will launch and start delivering two additional new models at least until the end of May.
Below are the main points Qin mentioned at the event, with the latest at the top.
When he mentioned Nio's service figures for the Chinese New Year period, he was referring to the period from January 13 to February 5. The official Chinese New Year holiday was from January 21 to 27.
Deliveries of Nio's 150-kWh battery pack will begin in the first half of this year, Qin said.
Nio is a company for long-term investors, and some long-term investors have been adding to their holdings in the company recently, Qin said.
If a car company is positioned as a premium brand, it is not appropriate to gain sales growth by cutting prices. But Nio will not be rigid in its strategy, and promoting inventory clearance of older models by offering discounts is an example.
Nio management believes that annual passenger car sales in China will be flat, remaining at just over 20 million units. But the market structure continues to change and the penetration of new energy vehicles will grow.
Consumers do have some wait-and-see mentality, but Nio management maintains the previously mentioned forecast of sales exceeding Lexus' sales in China this year.
Nio's one or two yet-to-be-unveiled new models may be delivered earlier than the EC7 and the all-new ES8, Qin said.
The EC7 coupe SUV and the all-new ES8 were launched at Nio Day 2022 on December 24, 2022, with deliveries to begin in May and June 2023, respectively.
Of the power provided by Nio's charging piles from January 13 to February 5, a total of 76 percent was used by EVs of other brands, with the highest being BYD, Tesla and Xpeng.
Qin reiterated his call for automakers with charging facilities to make their charging networks available to all EV owners.
Nio will probably add more battery swap stations this year than the 400 additional stations announced on Nio Day, and specific plans will be revealed later this month.
Nio's battery swap stations located along highways saw the highest number of single-day services on January 27, with 23,866 services and an average user wait time of 13.08 minutes.
Nio Houses received about 960,000 users from January 13 to February 5.
Nio provided about 1.25 million battery swap services, 900,000 charging services, and 13,723 battery flexibility upgrades during this period.
There were 18 owners who drove their Nio vehicles for more than 10,000 km during this period, with the highest being 19,557 km.
