Jidu Auto, the electric vehicle (EV) making arm of Baidu, officially unveiled its second model ROBO-02 at the Guangzhou auto show today and showcased the first model ROBO-01.

The Jidu ROBO-02 is an all-electric sedan with a front end that features a similar family design to the ROBO-01 SUV.

The ROBO-02 has no door handles like the ROBO-01, and the doors can be opened using voice and Bluetooth included.

Jidu did not announce the hardware specifications of ROBO-02. ROBO-01 is equipped with dual Nvidia Orin X chips that provide up to 508 TOPS of computing power. It also has 31 sensors, including 2 LiDARs, 5 millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 12 HD cameras.

The limited edition ROBO-01 Lunar Edition, launched on October 27, is powered by dual permanent magnet synchronous motors with a total peak power of 400 kW and a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3.9 seconds.

The ROBO-01 is equipped with a 100-kWh ternary lithium-ion battery from CATL with a range of over 600 km.

Given the sedan's lower wind resistance, the ROBO-02, if equipped with the same motor and battery, is expected to deliver even stronger acceleration and range performance.

The ROBO-01 Lunar Edition is a co-branded model in cooperation with China's Lunar Exploration Project and is priced at RMB 399,800 ($55,253).

The ROBO-01 Lunar Edition was originally limited to 1,000 units and had already been pre-ordered. At the launch event in late October, Jidu CEO Xia Yiping announced an additional 1,000 units for the model.

ROBO-01 deliveries will begin in 2023, according to Jidu.
