CATL and BYD continue to dominate China's power battery market, contributing a combined total of nearly 70 percent of the installed base last month.

In September, China's power battery installed base was 31.6 GWh, up 101.6 percent year-on-year and up 14 percent from August, according to data released today by the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA).

CATL continued to rank first with 15.12 GWh of installed capacity, or 47.8 percent share. BYD continued to rank second with 7.1 GWh, or 22.44 percent share.

Their market shares in September were higher than August's 46.79 percent and 21.91 percent, respectively.

CALB continued to rank third in September with a 6.16 percent share, and Gotion High-tech continued to rank fourth in September with a 4.33 percent share.

China's ternary battery installed base in September was 11.2 GWh, accounting for 35.4 percent of the total installed base, up 82.6 percent year-on-year and 6.5 percent from August.

CATL, CALB and Sunwoda are the dominant players in the ternary battery market, with shares of 52.2 percent, 11.18 percent and 8.36 percent respectively in September.

China's lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery installed base in September was 20.4 GWh, accounting for 64.5 percent of the total installed base, up 113.8 percent year-on-year and 18.5 percent from August.

CATL, BYD and Gotion are the dominant players in the LFP battery market, with shares of 44.34 percent, 36.36 percent and 7.21 percent respectively in September.

From January to September, the cumulative installed base of power batteries in China was 193.7 GWh, up 110.5 percent year-on-year.

From January to September, 77.2 GWh of ternary batteries were installed, accounting for 39.8 percent of the total installed capacity, up 63.9 percent year-on-year; 116.3 GWh of LFP batteries were installed, accounting for 60.1 percent of the total installed capacity, up 159.8 percent year-on-year.
