EP9, Chinese electric car company Nio's supercar, has broken yet another track lap record.

According to the Nio App, on June 25, 2021, the EP9 set a new lap record at the Zhejiang International Circuit with a time of 01:26.180, about six seconds ahead of the previous record of the 1st place holder, Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series (Cup2R).

The 3.2-kilometer-long racetrack, in East China's Zhejiang province, has many turns as it undulates with the mountains. With a height drop of 22 meters, it is one of the most challenging tracks.

The EP9 is Nio's flagship supercar model, equipped with four high-performance motors. It is capable of producing 1,360 horsepower, accelerating from 0-200km/h in 7.1 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 313km/h.

The Nio EP9 was launched in 2016, and the sports car set an electric car lap time record of 7 minutes and 5 seconds at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany on October 12, 2016.

On February 23, 2017, it set another record of 257 km/h at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, making it the fastest electric car in the world at the time.
