China will stabilize and expand auto consumption and unleash its potential, a guideline released today by 12 government departments, including China's Ministry of Commerce, said.

The document - "Notice on Several Measures to Boost Bulk Consumption Focused Consumption and Promote Release of Rural Consumption Potential" - mentions that China will encourage relevant cities to optimize purchase restriction measures and increase the number plate quota placement.

China will also carry out a new round of actions to encourage cars to enter the rural market, as well as promote the exchange of old cars for new ones, and encourage subsidizing rural residents to purchase trucks of 3.5 tons or less and passenger cars of 1.6 liters or less.

The guideline also mentions that China will improve the conditions for car use, strengthen the construction of parking lots, charging piles, and other facilities, and encourage charging pile operating companies to appropriately reduce charging service fees.

China will encourage gas stations with conditions to develop non-oil business, and encourage highway service areas to enrich commercial business and create traffic and travel consumption clusters, the opinion said.

In addition to auto consumption, the document also mentioned that China will promote the consumption of home appliances and furniture, as well as boosting the consumption of food and beverage.
