After exhibiting at CES in January this year, Chinese drone maker DJI Livox's LIDAR is officially on sale.

Information from DJI’s internally incubated company Livox shows its TELE-15 LIDAR is selling for only 8999 yuan.

TELE-15 supports a customized version of the firmware, which can increase the ultimate amount of detection distance to up to 1000 meters.

TELE-15 is also capable of detecting 14 points at a distance of 500 meters in less than 100ms, meeting the stringent algorithmic requirements of autopilot.

In terms of product reliability, the TELE-15 uses an innovative optoelectronic system design with no rotating optoelectronic components, which provides high reliability and long service life.

The product meets the vehicle life requirements of 10 years and has an MTTF (Mean Time to Failure) of at least 40,000 hours. Overall performance has exceeded the requirements for L3/L4 autopilot applications.

It is very difficult for LIDAR to make the list of vehicle-grade products.

There are three hurdles to overcome: management system certification to ISO 26262, the international standard for functional safety of road vehicles; product testing to ACE-Q100; and parts supply to IATF 16949.
