Although many European and North American car productions are about to face the fate of production suspension, one car company, Polestar, is moving at full speed.

The automaker has now begun production of Model 3's direct competitor, Polestar 2.

Polestar revealed on Tuesday that its factory in Luqiao, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, eastern China, has begun production of Polestar 2 this week. There, the car shares an assembly line with the Volvo XC40.

Prior to the official announcement of mass production, Polestar sent an email to global fans and future owners on Monday, stating that the Volvo Group's electric vehicle division attaches great importance to the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, but its Business was not affected.

In fact, Polestar claims that its team in China did not have a case of new crown virus infection in oil. Precautions such as temperature screening, thorough disinfection procedures, and the wearing of masks by each worker are now taken inside the factory.

The Polestar 2 has a maximum range of 275 miles, peak output power and torque of 408 horsepower and 487 pound-feet, respectively, and it supports the Android infotainment system. A 78-kWh battery provides power to the dual electric motors.

Currently, only the Launch Edition is in production and its pre-tax price is $ 63,000.

After the first year of production, Polestar plans to launch a model that costs only 55,000 US dollars, and then a single-engine version-the starting price is lower, the exact amount has not yet been determined.

The European market will have priority in deliveries starting this summer, followed by the Chinese market, followed by the North American market.
