The X9 starts at RMB 359,800, which is RMB 28,200 lower than the pre-sale price, and Xpeng said the MPV is a high-value family vehicle in the RMB 350,000 class.

Xpeng will officially launch the X9 on January 1, with a launch event starting at 6:30 pm Beijing Time.

Xpeng gave the X9 its debut on November 17 and began pre-sales with a starting price of RMB 388,000 yuan.

The Xpeng X9 will compete head-to-head with the Li Mega, a Li Auto MPV that will also be unveiled and go on pre-sale on November 17, the first day of the Guangzhou auto show.

The Xpeng X9 will be available in single-motor and dual-motor versions and will use LFP cells from Eve Energy as well as Li-ion ternary cells from CALB.

This is Xpeng's first warm-up for the X9, an MPV that is expected to be officially launched in the fourth quarter.

The Xpeng X9 will be launched at the end of the fourth quarter and will likely make a limited contribution to this year's deliveries, the EV maker's management said earlier this month.

The team has a HK$71.86 price target on Xpeng's Hong Kong-traded shares, implying an upside of 25.63 percent.

Xpeng will open up the MPV market to a younger demographic with the X9, said He Xiaopeng, chairman and CEO of the EV maker.
