Xpeng X9

Xpeng has sent a memo to its suppliers requesting materials for an additional 5,000 X9 EREVs by year-end, according to a local media report.

The X9 EREV's starting price is RMB 309,800 ($43,550), significantly lower than its pre-sales price and the X9 BEV, signaling Xpeng's ambitions in the EREV market.

Xpeng began pre-sales of the extended-range X9 MPV on November 6, with a starting price of RMB 350,000 ($49,300).

The X9 EREV marks Xpeng's first hybrid car, with the company planning to introduce more such models to target higher sales.

Xpeng will debut the extended-range version of its X9 MPV on November 6, with a technology event starting at 7:00 pm Beijing time that evening.

The X9 EREV boasts a combined CLTC range of 1,602 km and will feature three of Xpeng's in-house developed Turing AI smart driving chips.

The updated Xpeng X9 was launched in Malaysia just seven months after its predecessor's launch there.

The X9 EREV will be the first of Xpeng's slew of hybrid models to launch, as the EV maker has filed EREV variants for four existing models to date.

The extended-range X9 will kick off Xpeng's EREV product cycle, followed by extended-range G7 and G6 SUVs, and the extended-range P7+ sedan.

As of press time, Xpeng was up 7.94 percent in Hong Kong to a five-month high, bringing its gains for the month to 19 percent.
