Nio will raise the cost of battery upgrades on a daily basis by 76 percent between February 1-17, as it expects demand for upgrades to surge during the Chinese New Year travel rush.

Nio is offering essentially the same car-buying benefits this month as it did last month, but with an additional 1 year of free NOP+ access for customers who have previously taken delivery of their cars.

Nio will waive service fees for car owners using its swap stations along highways during the upcoming National Day holiday, rather than waiving both service and electricity fees as it had previously done.

Nio will increase its daily prices for standard-range battery upgrades to long-range ahead of the holiday, and offer discounts to encourage owners to upgrade on a monthly basis.

Nio is offering 30 free battery swaps, an online mall discount coupon worth RMB 2,000, and 1 year free usage of NOP+ to customers who buy its vehicles in September.

The ET5 Touring is priced the same as the regular ET5 and the new ES6 is priced attractively, influencing potential ET5 customer's intention to buy the car, according to local media.

Nio will no longer offer the RMB 30,000 option package that included free battery swap service, making the free service a thing of the past.

The service will begin a trial run on July 1, with available vehicles being the ET7 and EL7 and a minimum order length of seven days.

Nio today announced that starting prices for all new models are reduced by RMB 30,000 ($4,200) starting June 12, and makes the battery swap service optional.

The upgrade will be available starting May 31 and will cost owners RMB 1,980.
