Leapmotor seeks to expand its presence in the compact EV market with the Lafa 5 Ultra, featuring sportier configurations.

Chery said the QQ3 EV secured 56,879 orders roughly two hours after its launch event ended.

The special edition model is priced at 137,800 yuan ($19,990) including the battery pack, a 15% premium over the regular version.

Firefly will launch a new special edition model featuring an exclusive exterior color on March 20.

The pre-sales price of the Chery QQ3 starts at 68,920 yuan ($10,020), with orders reaching 21,957 units in the first 2 hours.

The Lafa 5's limited-time starting price is RMB 92,800 ($13,100), representing a 12.29 percent reduction from its pre-sales price.

The Ultra version of Lafa 5 will deliver a more advanced driving experience at a higher price point.

The Leapmotor Lafa 5 will be officially launched on November 28, competing against models including the Volkswagen ID.3, SAIC MG4, and Nio's Firefly EV.

The Lafa 5 would be officially launched in China in the fourth quarter, with deliveries starting in the first half of 2026, Leapmotor previously said.
