BMW is recalling a total of 93,632 iX series, i3 and i4 electric vehicles in China and will fix them with software updates.

The EQS SUV is the latest offering from Mercedes-Benz in China, where it has previously released several all-electric models that have had lukewarm sales.

The BMW i3 ranked 14th among the best-selling new energy sedans in China in January with 3,624 units sold, according to a list by the CPCA.

BMW said it will accelerate its electrification this year, bringing 11 BEV models to Chinese customers.

Just a month ago, Mercedes-Benz lowered the prices of all three versions of the EQE by about RMB 50,000.

The BMW i7 is the fifth all-electric vehicle the automaker has launched in China, after its previous offerings here included the iX, i4, iX3 and i3.

The model could be the first electric SUV from VW's Spanish sports brand Cupra -- the Tavascan -- and is expected to go into production in the second half of 2023.
