Leapmotor (HKEX: 9863) delivered 81,569 new vehicles in May, breaking its single-month delivery record once again, according to data released by the company on Monday.
That represents an 80.99% surge from a year earlier and a 14.26% increase from April.
The record monthly performance extends the brand's recent strong sales momentum. Previously, Leapmotor delivered 71,387 vehicles in April, which was its prior all-time high.
To sustain robust market demand, Leapmotor rolled out new car-buying incentives in China for June. Buyers can enjoy comprehensive benefits of up to 56,680 yuan ($8,380).
The company's new models this year include the A10 compact SUV (sport utility vehicle), which went on sale on March 26, and the D19 full-size SUV, which went on sale on April 16.
Leapmotor is also actively showcasing its manufacturing prowess and product quality to the international market, with a delegation of European dealers recently visiting the company's plant in Huzhou, Zhejiang province, according to a statement today.
In June, the electric hatchback Lafa 5 will land in 28 overseas markets, Leapmotor said.
The company is deepening its strategic partnership with European auto giant Stellantis NV, with the two parties planning to add a new production line at Stellantis's Zaragoza plant in Spain. The facility could start producing Leapmotor's B10 model as early as 2026.
The two companies also plan to transfer ownership of Stellantis's Villaverde plant in Madrid to their joint venture, Leapmotor International.
In terms of product line expansion, Leapmotor confirmed last month that it is planning to launch an entirely new, independent second brand.
The new brand is expected to focus on the higher-end segment priced above 300,000 yuan, with products slated to debut as early as the end of this year.
This is expected to help Leapmotor transition from its current focus on affordable mass-market models into higher-margin segments.
In the first five months of this year, Leapmotor delivered 263,111 vehicles, up 51.51% year on year.
The company is targeting full-year deliveries of 1 million vehicles in 2026.
