Xiaomi EV has just released official images of its new YU7 GT model in a "Crimson Red" exterior finish, as the highly anticipated new car approaches its official launch in late May.

The automotive arm of Xiaomi (HKEX: 1810) showcased the visual effects of the new color on Weibo on Friday, emphasizing that the model combines power and elegance to awaken users' desire to drive.

Xiaomi EV announced last month that the YU7 GT, a high-performance pure electric SUV (sport utility vehicle), will be officially launched in late May.

The YU7 GT is positioned as an authentic, pure-blooded GT (Gran Turismo), a sports car-level SUV that is both full of driving pleasure and capable of long-distance driving, Xiaomi said on April 24.

The new model measures 5,015 by 2,007 by 1,597 mm in size, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm, according to its regulatory filing information.

It is equipped with a powerful dual-motor system, boasting a comprehensive maximum power of up to 738 kW (990 hp) and a top speed of 300 kilometers per hour.

Under the CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) conditions, the YU7 GT has a pure electric range of 705 kilometers.

Addressing market questions about why the new model was not named YU7 Ultra, Xiaomi EV explained earlier this month that "GT" represents a high-performance luxury car suitable for long-distance travel, while "Ultra" represents a track-level product pursuing extreme performance.

Unlike the SU7 Ultra sedan, which focuses on top track lap times, the YU7 GT is not a race car purely pursuing extreme performance, but rather strikes a careful balance among high performance, luxurious comfort, and long range, Xiaomi EV said.

In terms of exterior design, the new car features an iconic long hood and a sports car-level wide-body design, and is equipped with carbon-ceramic brake discs.

The YU7 GT is the pinnacle flagship of the YU7 family, jointly tuned by Chinese and European experts, using Germany's Nürburgring Nordschleife as a top-tier testing ground to ensure its stability in corners and premium driving quality during long trips, Xiaomi EV said.

The performance beast is expected to be priced between 450,000 yuan ($66,320) and 500,000 yuan, which will further strengthen Xiaomi's competitive position in the high-end EV market.

The regular YU7 was launched in June 2025, with a starting price of 253,500 yuan.

Xiaomi EV delivered 36,702 vehicles in April, representing a year-on-year increase of 28.40% and a month-on-month increase of 71.18%, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

The SU7 accounted for 26,826 of those deliveries in April, a 240.35% increase from the 7,882 units delivered in March, representing 73.09% of total sales.

The YU7 contributed 9,876 units in April, a 27.16% decrease from the 13,558 units delivered in March, accounting for 26.91% of total sales.

This sales structure is partly due to the official launch of the new-generation SU7 on March 19, which offered generous launch-period incentives.

Xiaomi EV appointed auto division vice president Yu Liguo as head of the overseas business preparation group to lay the groundwork for overseas expansion.
