Geely's premium electric vehicle brand, Zeekr, is about to launch its second plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) model to further consolidate its position in the highly competitive domestic market.
The flagship SUV (sport utility vehicle), named the Zeekr 8X, is scheduled to officially begin pre-sales at a technology launch event in Shanghai on March 16, Zeekr announced on Tuesday.
Built on Geely's SEA-S hybrid architecture, the Zeekr 8X is expected to officially enter retail channels and begin mass deliveries to consumers in the second quarter of this year.
The new model will be available in five- and six-seat versions, measuring 5,100 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,780 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,069 mm, according to previously released information.
These dimensions are slightly smaller than the flagship hybrid SUV Zeekr 9X, which measures 5,239 mm in length, 2,019 mm in width, and 1,819 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,169 mm.
The Zeekr 8X is equipped with a 2.0T engine delivering a maximum power of 205 kW, along with a three-motor system that generates a combined power of up to 1,030 kW. It supports a top speed of 220 km/h.
The model is powered by ternary lithium battery packs supplied by a joint venture between CATL and Geely Automobile, offering consumers two capacity options: 55.1 kWh and 70 kWh.
Depending on the selected battery configuration, the Zeekr 8X can provide a pure electric range of 256 kilometers to 328 kilometers.
The Zeekr 8X will be the first to feature the G-ASD (Geely Afari Smart Driving) advanced driver assistance system, jointly developed by Afari Technology and Geely.
There is currently no pricing information available for the Zeekr 8X. Late last year, several Chinese automotive media outlets estimated that the model would be priced starting at around 400,000 yuan ($58,090), with the main selling price range expected to fall between 450,000 yuan and 500,000 yuan.
Zeekr's product launch plan for this model experienced a delay, as the company focused its primary efforts on product updates for its existing lineup in the second half of 2025.
