Arcfox, the electric vehicle (EV) brand of Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), has unveiled its new Wendao lineup targeting the premium market.

The new lineup will focus on mid-to-large-size MPVs (multi-purpose vehicles) and SUVs (sport utility vehicles), according to information released on social media platforms on Tuesday.

The lineup's first model is an MPV named Wendao V9, according to Arcfox. The vehicle is expected to compete with Chery's Luxeed V9 and BYD's (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) Denza D9.

Arcfox provided no further details, though some local media reports said the Wendao V9 is expected to be officially launched in the second quarter. A prototype of the model debuted at the Guangzhou auto show last November.

It's worth noting that MPVs represent a niche market in China, with monthly sales volume roughly one-tenth that of sedans or SUVs.

The extended-range MPV measures 5,300 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,850 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,200 mm, according to its regulatory filing.

The Wendao V9 employs a 1.5L engine as its range extender, delivering a maximum power output of 118 kW. Its electric motor provides a peak power of 227 kW.

A key selling point is its magnetorheological suspension, which dynamically adjusts damping through magnetic fields to better handle rough road surfaces.

Arcfox ranks among China's earliest new energy vehicle (NEV) brands, yet its sales performance has been lackluster in recent years amid intensifying competition.

On September 11 last year, Arcfox launched the T1 compact EV with a starting price of just RMB 62,800 ($9,090), marking a key effort to regain relevance in the Chinese market.

In late October 2025, Arcfox rolled out the updated Alpha T5 SUV, expanding beyond its previous battery electric vehicle (BEV) offerings to include extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) options.

On January 13 this year, the company launched the 2026 Kaola S with a starting price of RMB 99,800.

The Arcfox brand sold 23,387 vehicles in October, marking a 110 percent year-on-year increase.
