Zeekr has filed its new hybrid SUV, the Zeekr 8X, following a preview of the model earlier this month.
The vehicle entered a regulatory catalog released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Thursday, preparing for its market launch. The Chinese public can submit feedback on the catalog from January 9 to 15.
The Zeekr 8X is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and will be Zeekr's second hybrid model following the Zeekr 9X. Production will take place at the company's factory in Ningbo, Zhejiang.
It will be offered in five-seat and six-seat configurations, with dimensions of 5,100 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,780 mm in height, featuring a wheelbase of 3,069 mm.
These dimensions are slightly smaller than the Zeekr 9X, which measures 5,239 mm in length, 2,019 mm in width, and 1,819 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,169 mm.
The Zeekr 8X has a curb weight ranging from 2,660 to 2,820 kilograms and supports a top speed of 220 kilometers per hour.
It is powered by a 1,974-cc engine delivering 205 kW of power.
The SUV's ternary lithium batteries are supplied by a joint venture between CATL (HKG: 3750, SHE: 300750) and Geely Auto (HKG: 0175, OTCMKTS: GELYF).
The battery pack offers 55.1 kWh and 70 kWh options, with a battery range of 257/256/328 kilometers.
Zeekr first mentioned the 8X hybrid SUV during a May 2025 conference call, indicating its launch in the fourth quarter.
However, this plan was later postponed as Zeekr focused on updating several existing models in the latter half of 2025.
Zeekr began teasing the 8X on the final day of 2025 and released further details on January 5.
The Zeekr 8X is a hybrid high-performance flagship SUV capable of handling diverse road conditions with ease, the company said.
Chinese automotive media outlets reported last month that the Zeekr 8X was expected to debut in the first quarter 2026, with pricing starting around RMB 400,000 ($57,290) and the primary sales range projected between RMB 450,000 and RMB 500,000.
On September 29, Zeekr launched the six-seat full-size luxury SUV Zeekr 9X, its first hybrid model, with a starting price of RMB 465,900.
In December, Zeekr delivered over 10,000 units of the 9X, propelling the brand's monthly deliveries to a record 30,267 vehicles.
