Chinese LiDAR manufacturer RoboSense (HKG: 2498) announced another large-scale order from FAW Toyota as more vehicle models adopt the sensor for enhanced autonomous driving capabilities.
RoboSense will supply nearly one million LiDAR units to FAW Toyota for one of its best-selling models over the next five years, the company said today.
This marks the second collaboration between the two companies following RoboSense's three-year supply agreement for another FAW Toyota pure-electric model, the company said.
The LiDAR manufacturer did not disclose further details, though an image shared on WeChat suggests the Toyota model may be a sedan.
In February 2023, RoboSense announced a supply agreement with Toyota to provide LiDARs for multiple models under its brand, becoming the first Chinese LiDAR manufacturer to enter Toyota's supply chain system.
Founded in 2014, RoboSense has grown into one of China's largest LiDAR makers, with products covering short-, medium-, and long-range LiDARs.
In November alone, RoboSense delivered over 150,000 LiDAR units, according to data released last week.
In the automotive LiDAR sector, as of November 25, the company's EM platform LiDARs have secured supply contracts for 56 vehicle models across 13 automakers, according to the company.
RoboSense also produces LiDAR sensors for robotics.
