Nio Inc's (NYSE: NIO) flagship SUV (sport utility vehicle) ES8 surged to a record high in deliveries last month, driving the company to a strong monthly performance.
The ES8 delivered 6,703 units in October, becoming Nio brand's top-selling model, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) compiled by CnEVPost.
This represents a 797.32 percent increase from the 747 units delivered in the same month last year and a 139.14 percent rise from September's 2,803 units.
October's deliveries surpassed the previous record of 3,318 units set by the ES8 in December 2018 by 102.02 percent.
The ES8 is Nio's first mass-produced model, with the first-generation vehicle's initial deliveries occurring in June 2018.
The second-generation ES8 was launched at Nio Day 2022 on December 24, 2022, transitioning to the NT 2.0 platform, with deliveries commencing in June 2023.
Nio launched the third-generation ES8 on September 20, with deliveries starting on September 21.
Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li pledged at the new ES8 launch event that production capacity for the model this year would exceed 40,000 units this year, with December production set to reach 15,000 units.
The ET5 Touring delivered 4,526 units in October, making it Nio's second-highest delivering model. This represents a 5.11 percent year-on-year increase but a 10.34 percent decrease from September.
Over the past several months, the ET5 Touring has consistently been Nio's top monthly delivering model.
The ES6 SUV delivered 2,976 units in October, ranking third among Nio brand models. This represents a 54.01 percent year-on-year decrease but a 1.57 percent increase compared to September.
The ET5 sedan delivered 1,420 units in October, down 30.46 percent year-on-year and down 1.46 percent month-on-month.
The EC6 coupe SUV delivered 1,045 units in October, down 56.40 percent year-on-year and down 3.60 percent month-on-month.
Nio's flagship executive sedan, the ET9, delivered 127 units in October, up 41.11 percent from September's 90 units.
The ET9 is Nio's most expensive model, with a starting price of RMB 768,000 ($107,830) including the battery pack.
The ET7 sedan delivered 72 units in October, down 85.06 percent year-on-year and down 47.45 percent month-on-month.
The EC7 coupe SUV delivered 16 units in October, the lowest on record, representing a 92.00 percent year-on-year decline and a 36.00 percent decrease from September.
Nio Inc delivered 40,397 vehicles in October, marking a third consecutive month of record highs, according to data released on November 1.
The Nio main brand delivered 17,143 vehicles in October, marking a 2.92 percent year-on-year increase and reversing five consecutive months of year-on-year declines.
The Onvo sub-brand delivered 17,342 vehicles in October, surpassing its previous record of 16,434 units in August to set a new high.
The Onvo L60 delivered 5,566 units in October, a 31.00 percent increase from September.
Onvo's second model, the L90 SUV, delivered 11,776 units in October, marking the third consecutive month exceeding 10,000 units and a 7.08 percent increase from September.
Firefly's sole model, the Firefly EV, delivered 5,912 units in October, marking its third consecutive month of record-breaking sales and a 2.37 percent increase from September.
