Beijing Electric Vehicle Co (BJEV), the electric vehicle (EV) unit of Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), surpassed 30,000 units in October sales, primarily driven by the strong performance of its Arcfox brand.
BJEV sold 30,542 vehicles in October, a 112 percent increase year-on-year and a 48.7 percent rise from September's 20,539 units, according to data released by the company today.
From January to October, BJEV sold 142,043 vehicles, a 73 percent increase year-on-year, it said.
Arcfox sold 23,387 vehicles in October, a 110 percent year-on-year increase, primarily driven by the updated Alpha T5 SUV (sport utility vehicle) and the T1 compact EV launched late last month.
Stelato, the new brand jointly developed by Huawei and BAIC, sold 6,700 vehicles in October.
Stelato's two currently available models -- the S9 sedan and S9T wagon -- were launched in August 2024 and September this year, respectively.
BJEV, established in 2009, is one of China's earliest independently operated EV manufacturers and listed on the Chinese A-share market in 2018.
The company is currently focused on developing two major vehicle brands: Arcfox, targeting the mid-to-high-end market, and Stelato, leveraging Huawei's resources to establish a luxury flagship brand.
On September 11, Arcfox launched the T1 with a starting price of just RMB 62,800 ($8,820).
On October 28, Arcfox launched the updated Alpha T5, expanding its lineup from only battery electric vehicles (BEVs) to include extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) options.
