- Nio launched the third-generation ES8 on September 20 with a starting price of RMB 406,800 ($57,200), commencing deliveries the following day.
- The third-generation ES8 sold out its annual production capacity of 40,000 units on its second day of availability.

Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) today surpassed 10,000 deliveries of its third-generation ES8 SUV (sport utility vehicle), 40 days after its market launch.
The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker shared this milestone on Weibo today, saying the new ES8 is China's fastest pure-electric model priced above RMB 400,000 to reach 10,000 deliveries.
More than 30 percent of buyers for the all-new ES8 are coming from traditional luxury brand customers adding or upgrading vehicles, Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li said on Weibo.
In September, pure-electric large three-row SUVs outsold extended-range, gasoline, and plug-in hybrid competitors in China, Li added.
Nio officially launched the third-generation ES8 at Nio Day 2025 on September 20, with deliveries commencing the following day on September 21.
The model offers three variants -- the six-seat Executive Luxury Edition, seven-seat Executive Luxury Edition, and six-seat Executive Signature Edition -- with the first two starting at RMB 406,800 ($57,200) and the third at RMB 446,800.
Under the BaaS (Battery as a Service) plan, the starting prices for these variants are RMB 298,800, RMB 298,800, and RMB 338,800 respectively.
Currently, only the 100-kWh battery pack is available for the new ES8, with a monthly BaaS battery rental fee of RMB 1,128.
The ES8 delivered 2,803 units in September, its highest monthly figure since January 2019, making it Nio's third-highest delivering model, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Li pledged at the new ES8 launch event that the production capacity for the model this would exceed 40,000 units.
This production capacity sold out on the second day after the new ES8's launch. Chinese customers ordering the model now will face delivery wait times extending to about April 2026.
During a September 2 earnings call, Nio management said the new ES8 would reach 10,000 units monthly production capacity in October and 15,000 units by December.
On September 29, Nio announced it would prioritize the 100-kWh battery pack for third-generation ES8 production over battery swap stations to accelerate the SUV's deliveries.
The company pledged compensation for all-new ES8 customers: those receiving deliveries by December 31 would receive a RMB 400 charging subsidy.
