Avatr Technology, the electric vehicle (EV) unit of Changan Automobile, debuted a concept car exceeding 5.8 meters in length, emphasizing an emotional connection with the real world.
The company unveiled the concept vehicle on September 7 ahead of the IAA Mobility auto show in Munich, Germany, showcasing bold and luxurious interior and exterior designs.
The Xpectra measures 5,843 mm in length, 2,132 mm in width, and 1,405 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,450 mm.
Its prismatic glass cabin is constructed from multiple transparent glass panels, with a glass roof extending from front to rear.
The concept car features gullwing doors -- a common design choice for showcasing interior space layouts.
Adopting a minimalist aesthetic dominated by white and silver-gray tones, Avatr emphasizes this is intended for emotional expression.
Last night, Avatr vice president Yong Jun shared a video on Weibo revealing the concept car's actual appearance.
Avatr originated as Changan Nio, established on July 10, 2018, as a 50-50 joint venture between Changan and Nio (NYSE: NIO). Nio has since largely exited the company.
In late August 2021, Changan, CATL, and Huawei jointly announced the refreshed Avatr brand, stating they would develop EVs based on the co-created CHN architecture -- where C stands for Changan, H for Huawei, and N for CATL.
In August 2022, Avatr launched its first model, the Avatr 11 SUV (sport utility vehicle).
Currently, Avatr models sold in the Chinese domestic market include the Avatr 06 sedan, Avatr 07 SUV, Avatr 11 SUV, Avatr 12 sedan, and two limited-edition models: Avatr 011 and Avatr 012.
