BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has reached the one million sales milestone for its first global model, the Yuan Plus -- known as the Atto 3 in multiple overseas markets -- just as the Yuan family has reached 1.5 million sales.
The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker shared this milestone on Weibo today without providing further details.
The pure electric Yuan Plus is part of BYD's Dynasty series Yuan family, which currently includes four models: the Yuan Plus Smart Driving Edition, Yuan Plus Honor Edition, Yuan Up Smart Driving Edition, and the standard Yuan Up.
The model was initially launched in China in February 2022 as the first SUV (sport utility vehicle) based on BYD's pure electric platform, e-platform 3.0.
It is also BYD's first model designed for the global market and has been launched in multiple overseas markets under the name Atto 3.
The Yuan Plus is an affordable model, with a starting price range in China of RMB 115,800 ($16,110) to RMB 145,800. Its price in overseas markets is typically higher, taking into account additional costs such as tariffs and transportation expenses.
The Yuan Plus surpassed 300,000 units sold within 14 months of its launch and reached 1 million units sold in 39 months.
On June 19, BYD announced that cumulative global sales of the Yuan family models had exceeded 1.5 million units.
The Yuan family is the third model series under BYD to achieve the 1 million sales milestone, following the Qin family and Song family.
The Yuan family sold 31,711 units in May, making it one of BYD's top-selling models, despite a year-on-year decrease of 21.18 percent and a month-on-month decrease of 13.52 percent, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
BYD sold 382,476 vehicles in May, representing a year-on-year increase of 15.27 percent and a month-on-month increase of 0.63 percent.
It sold 89,047 NEVs overseas in May, marking the sixth consecutive month of record-breaking sales. That's a year-on-year increase of 137.46 percent and a month-on-month increase of 12.60 percent.
