- As of the end of May, Li Auto's cumulative vehicle deliveries reached 1,301,531 units.
- Li Auto introduced Sunwoda and Svolt Energy as additional battery suppliers in February 2023.
The one millionth CATL (SHE: 300750) battery pack for Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) had rolled off the production line, marking a milestone in the collaboration between the two companies.
The Chinese battery giant announced the milestone yesterday, with its founder, chairman, and CEO Robin Zeng, and Li Auto's founder, chairman, and CEO Li Xiang witnessing the moment.
Li Auto initially used only CATL's batteries, but introduced Sunwoda and Svolt Energy as additional battery suppliers when it launched the Li L7 SUV (sport utility vehicle) in February 2023.
As of the end of May, Li Auto had delivered a cumulative total of 1,301,531 vehicles, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
This means that, to date, Sunwoda and Svolt Energy have collectively supplied about 300,000 battery packs to Li Auto.
When Li Auto was founded in 2015, CATL participated in its product strategy as a battery supplier, according to the battery manufacturer's announcement.
To date, the cumulative delivery volume of Li Auto vehicles equipped with CATL batteries has reached nearly 1 million units, with no incidents of thermal runaway caused by battery issues, CATL said.
CATL has the world's broadest customer base for power batteries, having served over 19.25 million vehicles as of April, it said.
CATL's EV battery installation volume from January to April reached 117.6 GWh, a 42.4 percent increase from the 82.6 GWh recorded in the same period last year, according to data released earlier this month by South Korean market research firm SNE Research.
The Chinese battery giant maintains its position as the world's top supplier with a 38.1 percent market share, the only battery supplier globally with a market share exceeding 30 percent.
Li Auto currently offers five models -- Li L6, Li L7, Li L8, Li L9, and Li Mega -- with the L series being extended-range SUV (sport utility vehicle) models, while the Li Mega is a pure electric MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) model.
It delivered 40,856 vehicles in May, up 16.66 percent year-on-year and up 20.38 percent month-on-month.
