BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) will officially launch the new all-electric sedan model Seal 06 EV from its Ocean series this Saturday, which is the sister model of the Qin L EV from the Dynasty series.
The Seal 06 EV will be launched at the Chongqing auto show, which opens on June 7, BYD announced yesterday. The auto show will run until June 15.
BYD began pre-sales of the Seal 06 EV on the first day of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Auto Show, or the 2025 Shenzhen auto show, on May 31.
The pre-sales price range for the electric sedan is RMB 120,000 ($16,720) to RMB 150,000.
It is a pure electric mid-size sedan with dimensions of 4,720 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm, according to regulatory filings in February.
This is the same size as the currently available Qin L EV.
The BYD Seal 06 EV is a single-motor model, with maximum motor power of 110 kW and 160 kW, supporting maximum speeds of 160 km/h and 180 km/h, respectively, according to its regulatory filing information.
The Seal was originally an electric sedan but has since expanded into a family of multiple sedan models.
The Seal family currently includes the hybrid Seal 05 DM-i, hybrid Seal 06 DM-i, hybrid Seal 07 DM-i, all-electric Seal 06 GT, and all-electric Seal, with starting price ranges from RMB 79,800 to RMB 239,800.
BYD sold 382,476 vehicles in May, a year-on-year increase of 15.27 percent and a month-on-month increase of 0.63 percent.
The Seal family sold 25,587 units in May, marking a year-on-year increase of 78.79 percent, but a month-on-month decrease of 1.78 percent.
