- The updated ET5 and ET5T both start at RMB 298,000 ($41,500) including the battery pack.
- The ET5 contributed 11.94 percent of Nio Inc's full-year deliveries in 2024, and the ET5T contributed 22.92 percent.
Nio (NYSE: NIO) today officially launched the updated ET5 sedan and ET5T wagon, with an unchanged starting price but bringing multiple feature upgrades.
Including the standard 75-kWh range battery pack, both models start at RMB 298,000 ($41,500), the same as their predecessors.
All of Nio's models support battery swap, which allows consumers to purchase the vehicle body and rent a battery pack based on a BaaS (battery as a service) plan.
Under the BaaS plan, the ET5 and ET5T, or ET5 Touring, both start at RMB 228,000, with monthly battery rental fees starting at RMB 728 yuan.
Nio is now allowing customers to lock in orders for the updated ET5 and ET5T, with deliveries starting immediately.
Customers who lock in their orders on or before June 30 will receive up to four free battery swaps per month for five years, and five years of free NOP+ (Navigate on Pilot Plus) usage.
Nio is also giving away a free AC charging and discharging kit for purchases made on or before June 30, and allowing customers to replace that entitlement with RMB 5,000 in option funds.
Other entitlements include free options for comfort features worth RMB 9,500, including front seat ventilation and massage functions.
The ET5 is a five-seat mid-size sedan with a length, width and height of 4,790 mm, 1,960 mm and 1,499 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,888 mm.
The ET5T is a derivative of the ET5, targeting a relatively niche market. The wagon has the same dimensions as the ET5, except for a taller rear area.
Similar to the updated ES6 and EC6, which were launched on May 16, the upgrades to the updated ET5 and ET5T focus on safety and comfort.
The updated ET5 and ET5T have over 500 component upgrades, Nio said.
They all feature a Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip developed by Nio in-house, which the company said has the computing power equivalent of four Nvidia Orin X chips.
The 2024 Nio models come standard with four Nvidia Orin X chips. The Nio ET9 flagship sedan comes with two Shenji chips.
The center screen of the updated ET5 and ET5T has been changed from the previous vertical one to a horizontal AMOLED screen similar to the one found in Nio's ET9 executive flagship sedan.
The ET5 and ET5T are the two most important models for Nio apart from the ES6.
The ET5 delivered 26,510 units in 2024, contributing 11.94 percent of Nio Inc's full-year deliveries, and the ET5T delivered 50,869 units in 2024, contributing 22.92 percent of Nio Inc's deliveries, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
The ET5 delivered 5,284 units in January-April this year, contributing 8.01 percent of Nio Inc's deliveries in the same period; the ET5T delivered 13,468 units in January-April, contributing 20.41 percent.
